INTERNATIONAL PROFESSIONAL BODIES FOR MEDICAL STUDENTS

1. Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy – Student Pharmacists : AMCP’s diverse membership of pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and professionals in life sciences and pharmaceutical companies leverage their specialized expertise in clinical evidence and economics to optimize medication benefit design and population health management and help patients access cost-effective and safe medications and other drug therapies.

2. Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics – Student Center : The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics offers members many resources to manage their practice and career, from standards of practice tools to marketing resources.

3. American Academy of Physician Assistants – PA Students : The American Academy of PAs is the national professional society for PAs. AAPA advocates and educates on behalf of the profession and the patients PAs serve. They work to ensure the professional growth, personal excellence and recognition of PAs. they also enhance their ability to improve the quality, accessibility and cost-effectiveness of patient-centered healthcare.

4. American College of Healthcare Executives – Student Associates : ACHE members comprise a community of leaders dedicated to improving healthcare. The membership includes micro-networks of leaders from across the healthcare spectrum—in diverse locations, healthcare settings, disciplines and career stages. They help each other advance and they collaborate to tackle some of the biggest challenges within the profession. Some examples include:

● Forums and networks that band together members with similar interests—i.e. CEO Circle, Asian Healthcare Leaders Forum, and the Early Careerist Network.

● Local communities of practice such as the Physician Executive Group within the Georgia Association of Healthcare Executives.

● Partnerships with clinical societies such as the American Society for Anesthesiologist to advance physician leadership.

● The Higher Education Network of academic program leaders dedicated to improving healthcare education.

● The We Lead for Safety initiative which was launched with a partnership between ACHE and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement/National Patient Safety Foundation Lucian Leape Institute.

5. American College of Physicians – Medical Student Membership : ACP is a national organization of internists, the largest medical-specialty organization, and second-largest physician group in the United States.

8. American Medical Women’s Association – Student Division : AMWA membership is composed of physicians, residents, medical students, pre-medical students, health care professionals, and supporters. AMWA is the oldest multispecialty organization dedicated to advancing women in medicine and improving women’s health.

American Psychological Association of Graduate Students : The American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS) builds a better future for psychology by serving as a united voice to enrich and advocate for graduate student development. APAGS aspires to achieve the highest quality graduate training experience for the next generation of scientific innovators, expert practitioners and visionary leaders in psychology.

American Public Health Association – Student Assembly : The Student Assembly is dedicated to furthering the development of the next generation of professionals in public health and health-related disciplines. They represent and serve students of public health and other health-related disciplines by connecting those who are interested in working together on public health and student-related issues.

11. American Society of Health-System Pharmacists – Pharmacy Student Forum : ASHP represents pharmacists who serve as patient care providers in acute and ambulatory settings. The organization includes pharmacists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians.

12. American Student Dental Association : The American Student Dental Association is a national student-run organization that protects and advances the rights, interests and welfare of dental students.

13. HOSA-Future Health Professionals : HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the healthcare industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA's goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership. HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for secondary, postsecondary, adult, and collegiate students enrolled in health science education and biomedical science programs or have interests in pursuing careers in health professions.

14. HealthSTAT: Health Students Taking Action Together : Health Students Taking Action Together, Inc. (H-STAT) is a nonprofit, member organization run by health professional students in Georgia. H-STAT seeks to make being active in the health community a professional habit. By helping students and health professionals, they see advocacy as a continuum that links education and service to policy, they can facilitate the development of a new cohort of health leaders.

International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation : IPSF is the leading international advocacy organisation for pharmacy students with the aim to promote improved public health through the provision of information, education, and networking opportunities as well as a range of publications and professional initiatives.

16. Student Doctor Network : Student Doctor Network (SDN) is a nonprofit service to help build a diverse doctor workforce by providing free advising resources, tools, and peer-support forums to those who would not get otherwise.

17. The Royal College of Surgeons of England: It is a professional membership organisation and registered charity, which exists to advance patient care.

18. The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd): It is a professional organisation of surgeons. The College has seven active faculties, covering a broad spectrum of surgical, dental and other medical practice.
