KGMU Intramural research programme guide
Our university provides funds for research to undergraduate students by its intramural research programmes. Timelines are variable so students should keep in touch with the research cell of the university(located behind the brown hall). Proposals are accepted by the research cell through offline mode and a date is given when a student has to present their research proposal and budget in front of the research cell council . Our University is highly supportive for UGs who are interested in research and the acceptance rates for funding by university is high. All undergraduates and postgraduates can apply for an intramural research programme.
CSIR - Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow
This institute offers internships for interested students. You will have to personally mail the concerned faculty in order to obtain an approval for the same. The institution is located about 30-40 minutes away from KGMU campus.
Pursuing Independent research
Students who have innovative ideas for research and are unable to proceed with it due to any reason can contact any permanent faculty of KGMU (of any department) and discuss their ideas or propose plans. Lack of ideas or unawareness of the process/method is not an issue, they can still approach faculty if they are just interested in doing research. Students can also approach their seniors for advice.
Funding of the research must be planned out carefully and should preferably be conducted with minimal costs (eg: online questionnaire platforms etc). Based on the quality of research the mentor will submit the manuscript to journals of suitable impact factors. Students should stick to bioethics of research and try to avoid predatory journals.
Awards offered by KGMU to Medical Students active in Research
The MBBS Student Researcher Award is given by the institute (KGMU) to the student who is the first author or corresponding author on paper that gets published in a journal with impact factor more than 1.
