To enhance academic and technical skills of medical students in modern and clinical research, the Medical Student Research Training (MedSRT) programme was launched at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad. This programme is available for MBBS students of second and third year. Students should upload the application in the prescribed format, a forwarding certificate from HOD/Principal of the University/College/Institute, a Statement of Purpose (SOP) for attending this program, and a brief biodata. The programme has 20-25 seats and doesn't have any fees. For enquiry mail them on sdp@ccmb.res.in.

SFRP, JNCASR, India

Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) offers a two month Summer Research Fellowship Programme(SFRP) to brilliant undergraduate students of India. It provides a monthly stipend of 6000 rupees. There are three universities for the SFRP programme.

TIFR (VSRP), India

TATA institute of Fundamental Research(TIFR) organises Visiting Student Research Programme(VSRP) at Mumbai. Students who have completed 2 years of undergraduate or Masters can apply for this. PhD students are not applicable. Around 50 students are taken all over India.There is no cut-off GPA% that is needed. They look at the overall profile while making a decision which includes academic performance as-grades/GPA, referee reports, your write up, etc.

SITARE-GYTI, India

Students Innovations for Translation & Advancement of Research Explorations (SITARE)-Gandhian Young Technological Innovation) Awards are aimed at supporting innovative student projects in areas including Healthcare, Diagnostics, Medical Devices, Drugs, and Vaccines with each shortlisted project receiving funding support of up to INR 15 lakhs. Furthermore, only undergraduate student's residential workshops called Biotech Innovation Ignition School (BIIS) are organized to provide hands-on technical training and mentorship in 3-4 weeks duration.

SRISTI-GYTI, India

Socially Relevant Technological Innovation Awards are aimed at student projects which address an important social, environmental or technological problem faced by masses or disadvantaged enterprises, or have the potential to impact a pressing national need are invited. The awards will be given to young student innovators like the Frugal Innovation award, Technological-edge award, and SRISTI awards.

ICMR STS, India

Indian council of medical research(ICMR) invites undergraduates of MBBS and BDS( excluding final years students) for short term studentship programme (STS). ICMR STS is the programme for which each enthusiastic first year student should apply to get an idea for research. It's good to have first exposure to research at this stage where everyone will help you rather than waiting to become a resident with no prior exposure to research.
